Characteristics of a Great Athlete

When scouts look for potential star athletes, they consider character. What is it that makes them stars anyway? In totality, character dominates over mistakes and failures. Character is what actually makes an athlete reach their goals.

The following are five markers of a true sports champion’s character:

Humility and Leadership 
 
A great leader is someone who can make people come together as one, serve them, as well as inspire them to succeed, and still stay humble. Leaders are aware of the importance of humility. Everybody has a boss, whether it’s the team captain or even the team owner himself. In life, we all have people whom we look up to and respect, by choice or by default.

Ability and Performance

In a field where statistical performance is everything, God-given talents and hard work are the determining factors for success. Skill is the display of ability while performance is the outcome or result. Great athletes all have the best of both. If one does not exist, then the athlete needs more work. Even as skill is great, the sportsman who is consistent and and demonstrates longevity is the one who is most beloved by the public. Audiences are looking for two things - enjoyment and empathy - when watching their favorite sports. Community Functions and Family

The average lifespan of an athlete’s career in the NFL is 3. Community involvement and responsible family living last the athlete’s lifetime and those of people they lead. Evidently, a great athlete is a combination of several things, from physical to statistical to moral excellence. All of these things make up the character of the person.
